Pastor:  Pastor  QUENTIN SURACE

Grace and Peace from God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ, I am Pastor Quentin, your pastor here at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Claremont, NC. While I am new to St. Mark’s, I am not new to the Claremont-Catawba area. I grew up in the Catawba area as an alum of Bandys High School (GO TROJANS!) where I made life-long friends in the high school band playing alto saxophone. When I graduated, I pursued a Bachelors Arts in History from NC State. With that degree, I always find ways to share neat stories from across time and how they might connect with our lives today. After undergrad, I attended Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary to pursue my Mdiv for Word and Sacrament ministry. In seminary, I had the honor of serving with the staff and congregation of Pisgah Lutheran in Lexington, SC; and the staff and congregation of St. Paul Borchers Lutheran Church in Seymour, Indiana. In my ministry experience, I enjoy reminding those whom I serve with to remember the waters of their baptism, where God gives to us the gift of faith, love, and grace and to share those gifts with all whom we meet. While we may not always get it right in life, the Triune God is there to invite us to try again because we are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. Through that love and grace, the Triune God invites us to “share our good works to glorify our Father in Heaven” (Matt. 5:16). In my free time, I enjoy being outside in nature in the mountains or at the beach. Sometimes, I prefer to stay inside with a good book, a Lego set, or do some gaming with friends. Occasionally, I might practice my guitar or play my saxophone. If you’re looking for a church, please join us for Sunday worship and meet the people of St. Mark’s.
